Children’s Religious Education at BUF
Finally, we are able to welcome all fully vaccinated children for in-person fun and fellowship at BUF. with plenty of art, games, and creative projects. We will follow the usual COVID protocol of course, with masks, as much distancing as possible, and no snacks or food for now. Children’s RE is from 10:20 – 11:45 Sunday morning. Any child too young to be vaccinated is welcome to stay in the nursery, at the back of the sanctuary, with their parent/guardian during the service.

Raid Relief for Families (RRRF) is Special Collection Recipient for January.
18 families were shocked when their breadwinners were picked up by ICE early on August 29, 2018, on their way to work or at home. The families and their supporters organized as Raid Relief to Reunite Families (RRRF). Since then some have been deported, some have applied for asylum or have been denied asylum and have appealed, either from Mexico or from within the United States; all the cases are different but all cause grief, frustration, hardship, and, at times, hope. The families help each other and are encouraged by help from BUF and other community organizations. RRRF continues its effort to keep all immigrant families together. The funds we provide go toward legal costs, bail, stipends and supplies for fundraising. Donations can be made on buf.org or to the office.

Please join our BUF Refugee Action Team for an informational hour with Steven Shetterly, Director of the Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project (WRRP) on Thursday, January 20, from 7:00 to 8:00. Steven will share the latest on the refugee situation in our county, explain what is still needed by the Afghan families who have recently arrived, followed by a facilitated Q and A session. Other invited Refugee Action Team churches will share ways they are supporting the resettlement effort and an opportunity for people to donate to WRRP as well. To find out more about the work of WRRP, go to their website at Whatcom Refugee Resettlement Project. For questions contact Genia at genia@BUF.org. Zoom Meeting ID: 943 5192 4151 Passcode: BUF
