Coffee Hour: Stay on Zoom AFTER the service. We’ll break into small randomized groups for about 10 minutes, then the groups will be juggled for another 10 minute period. Stay as long as you like to meet newcomers, and people that you might not otherwise have met … check-in on one another’s well-being … and reflect on the theme of today’s service.

Our BUF Covenant

Love is the spirit of this fellowship, and service gives it life.
Celebrating our diversity, and joined by a quest for truth,
we work for peace, and honor all creation. This is our covenant.

Here Comes the Sun

Here Comes The Sun
Here comes the sun, doo-n doo-doo
Here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right

Little darling, it’s been a long cold lonely winter
Little darling, it feels like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, doo-n doo-doo
Here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right

Little darling, the smiles returning to their faces
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been here
Here comes the sun, doo-n doo-doo
Here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes (x5)

Little darling, I feel that ice is slowly melting,
Little darling, it seems like years since it’s been clear
Here comes the sun, doo-n doo-doo
Here comes the sun, and I say it’s all right

Here comes the sun, doo-n doo-doo
Here comes the sun, it’s all right, it’s all right.

In My Life

There are places I’ll remember all my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better; some have gone and some remain
All these places had their moments with lovers and friends, I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living, in my life I’ve loved them all.

But of all these friends and lovers there is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning when I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection for people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them in my life, I love you more

Though I know I’ll never lose affection for people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them in my life, I love you more
In my life I love you more.

A Little Help from my Friends

What would you think if I sang out of tune, would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ears and I’ll sing you a song and I’ll try not to sing out of key
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends, mm, I get high with a little help from my friends Oh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends

What do I do when my love is away? (Does it worry you to be alone?)
How do I feel by the end of the day? (Are you sad because you’re on your own?)
No, I get by with a little help from my friends, mm, I get high with a little help from my friends
Oh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends

(Do you need anybody?) I need somebody to love
(Could it be anybody?) I want somebody to love

(Would you believe in a love at first sight?) Yes, I’m certain that it happens all the time
(What do you see when you turn out the light?) I can’t tell you, but I know it’s mine
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends, mm, I get high with a little help from my friends Oh, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends

(Do you need anybody?) I just need someone to love
(Could it be anybody?) I want somebody to love
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends
Mm, I’m gonna try with a little help from my friends
Oh, I get high with a little help from my friends
Yes, I get by with a little help from my friends, with a little help from my friends

The Larger Circle

We clasp the hands of those that go before us,
And the hands of those who come after us.
We enter the little circle of each other’s arms
And the larger circle of lovers, whose hands are joined in a dance.
And the larger circle of all creatures,
Passing in and out of life, who move also in a dance,
To a music so subtle and vast that no ear hears it
Except in fragments.

Wendell Berry

Multifaith Network for Climate Justice presents Jessica Zimmerle, EarthMinistry/IPL.   Monday, Jan 25, 6:30 to 8:00pm at  https://tinyuurl.com/y27ygt49  Jessica will share information about important environmental bills being considered by the Washington state legislature.

Social and Environmental Justice Collection Recipient for January:  Restorative Community Coalition The Restorative Community Coalition is a 501C3 all volunteer non-profit working in the field of criminal justice reform. We start with people who get arrested, their families, friends, employers and others impacted. We then work with non-profits, 1st responders, jail and court employees of the law and justice systems who control the complex processes over time. The contributions from BUF last year provided a lifeline of safety for our Coalition as we adjusted to the conditions.  We were able to keep our lights on, and leverage funds to empower our volunteers to provide thousands of volunteer hours to help ‘whole families’ who needed to navigate the difficulties from arrest, to release and reentry.

What are the benefits? Where is it being used today? What do critics say? What’s our plan to bring ranked-choice voting to Washington?

FairVote Washington is a non-partisan, nonprofit champion of electoral reforms that give voters a stronger voice in our elections, and more representative democracy. We encourage people of all political backgrounds to attend. Join us for what is sure to become a UU favored way of voting!
