Afterward: a series of 10-Minute Breakout Rooms

Stay with us. We’ll break into small randomized groups for about 10 minutes. Then the groups will be juggled for another 10 minute period. Stay as long as you like to meet newcomers, and people that you might not otherwise have met … check-in on one another’s well-being … and reflect on the theme of today’s service.

Our BUF Covenant

Love is the spirit of this fellowship, and service gives it life.
Celebrating our diversity, and joined by a quest for truth,
we work for peace, and honor all creation. This is our covenant.

Gather the Spirit

Gather the spirit, harvest the power.
Our sep’rate fires will kindle one flame.
Witness the mystery of this hour.
Our trials in this light appear all the same.

(Chorus)
Gather in peace, gather in thanks.
Gather in sympathy now and then.
Gather in hope, compassion and strength.
Gather to celebrate once again.

Gather the spirit of heart and mind.
Seeds for the sowing are laid in store.
Nurtured in love, and conscience refined,
with body and spirit united once more.

(Chorus)

Gather the spirit growing in all,
drawn by the moon and fed by the sun.
Winter to spring, and summer to fall,
the chorus of life resounding as one.

(Chorus)

Faith is a Forest

Faith is a forest in which doubts play and hide;
insight can hear the still small voice deep inside.
Web of Life, may this thread I weave
strengthen commitment to all I believe.
Vision be my guide as I seek my way,
lead me into this tender day;
Speak through me in all I do and say.

Seeds of both meek and strong are scattered in air;
dignity shines undimmed by bigotry’s glare.
Web of Life, may this thread I weave
help me bear witness to all I believe.
Justice be my guide as I seek my way,
lead me into this tender day;
speak through me in all I do and say.

Fortune and famine ride the swift winds of chance;
sorrow and pleasure seem united in dance.
Web of Life, may this thread I weave
mingle compassion with all I believe.
Mercy be my guide as I seek my way,
lead me into this tender day;
speak through me in all I do and say.

Building a New Way

We are building a new way.
We are building a new way.
We are building a new way,
feeling stronger ev’ry day,
We are building a new way.

We are working to be free.
We are working to be free.
We are working to be free,
hate and greed and jealousy.
We are working to be free.

We can feed our every need.
We can feed our ev’ry need.
We can feed our ev’ry need,
Start with love, that is the seed.
We can feed our every need.

Peace and freedom is our cry.
Peace and freedom is our cry.
Peace and freedom is our cry,
Without these this world will die.
Peace and freedom is our cry.

Next Sunday, May 23: “In Service to BUF through the Pandemic”

The pandemic has provided a test of our stamina and agility. Today BUF staff will share a bit of what we’ve learned during this time—about ourselves, and about the congregation and the mission we serve. Kathy Wahto, Sue Sayegh, and Kai Rappaport will take the opportunity to say their goodbyes, and thank yous. Amaya Coblentz and Walt Ellis will each take a moment to introduce themselves. And Paul, Genia, Kevin, Andrea, and Melanie will also highlights, challenges, and appreciations.

BUF Vaccination Survey – Just 2 Questions

The BUF COVID Task Force was formed by the Board of Trustees to keep abreast of CDC and State guidelines concerning the pandemic and to provide recommendations to the Board about Fellowship operations during these uncertain times.

This completely anonymous poll will help the Task Force provide the best guidance to the Board.

As circumstances change, we may send out additional polls.

PLEASE RESPOND BY MAY 23

if you have any questions, email Alan Friedlob via the BUF Directory https://wp.buf.org/connection/members-and-friends-directory/ or thru the office: https://wp.buf.org/administration-overview/contact/

Thank you for your response!

The BUF Auction is online at www.togetherauction.com/buf

Bidding will run from May 9-23. But you can go to the website to view the items starting now! We will be adding donated items from now until the auction starts.

AND – we need donations!

After a couple of years focused on services and events (instead of physical items) as an aid to building community – we are now welcoming/encouraging physical items. So do you have a Maker in your family? Someone gifted with wood working or fabrics? An exercise treadmill languishing in your closet? A bike rack but you no longer have bikes? Donate them to BUF! You can also donate an event (like a tea party) or service (like offering to power-wash for 2 hours) – but please be explicit about your requirements regarding vaccination status, masking, social distancing, etc.

We will be at the BUF front lobby from 4-6 PM on the week before the auction starts to accept your donation. Getting donations earlier in the week is most helpful as we want to get the photos and posting up as soon as possible.

We have a budget goal to reach $10k from this fund-raising event. That’s a high bar for an online-only event. However, the auction is open to anyone and everyone. All BUF members are pre-registered (your phone number is your login and your last 4 digits of your phone are your password). If someone is not registered they are able to register online – but then have to send a request to get a bidding/paddle number assigned to them (this allows us to confirm legitimate interest).

Pickups and payments (cash, credit card, check, Give+ app) happen from 3-6 pm May 24-26th at the BUF front door.

Please line up your donations and mark your calendar to review the catalogue. You can save items to your ‘favorites’ list. The high bidder for each item at 5 pm on May 23rd will be the winner.

Thanks much The BUF Auction Team
Debbie Boots, Lauralee Carbone, Pam Ives, Hank Ohana

Interfaith Blessing to begin the Totem Pole Journey

May 24, 2-6 pm

Volunteers are still needed, so anyone interested in lending a hand I’d appreciate it.  We’re going to need a number of people on the ground throughout the event, any and all hands will be welcome.  Contact Deb Cruz via the BUF Directory https://wp.buf.org/connection/members-and-friends-directory/ or thru the office: https://wp.buf.org/administration-overview/contact/
