Afterward: a series of 10-Minute Breakout Rooms
Stay with us. We’ll break into small randomized groups for about 10 minutes. Then the groups will be juggled for another 10 minute period. Stay as long as you like to meet newcomers, and people that you might not otherwise have met … check-in on one another’s well-being … and reflect on the theme of today’s service.
Our BUF Covenant
Love is the spirit of this fellowship, and service gives it life.
Celebrating our diversity, and joined by a quest for truth,
we work for peace, and honor all creation. This is our covenant.
What wondrous love is this, O my soul, O my soul,
what wondrous love is this, O my soul?
What wondrous love is this that brings my heart such bliss,
and takes away the pain of my soul, of my soul,
and takes away the pain of my soul.
When I was sinking down, sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down, sinking down,
when I was sinking down beneath my sorrows ground,
friends to me gather’d round, O my soul, O my soul,
friends to me gather’d round, O my soul.
To love and to all friends I will sing, I will sing,
to love and to all friends I will sing.
To love and to all friends who pain and sorrow mend,
with thanks unto the end I will sing, I will sing,
with thanks unto the end I will sing.
When windows that are black and cold are lit anew with fires of gold;
when dusk in quiet shall descend and darkness come once more a friend;
When wings pursue their proper flight and bring not terror but delight;
when clouds are innocent again and hide no storms of deadly rain;
And when the sky is swept of wars and keeps but gentle moon and stars,
that peaceful sky, harmless air, how sweet, how sweet, the darkness there.
We’re gonna sit at the welcome table.
We’re gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days, hallelujah!
We’re gonna sit at the welcome table,
gonna sit at the welcome table one of these days.
All kinds of people around that table…
No fancy style at the welcome table…

BUF-SEJC Special Collection Recipient for May is JUUstice Washington
The COVID pandemic has posed some intesting challenges for UU congregations and JUUstice Washington. Restrictions on in-person activities has reduced the level of activity in demonstrations, gatherings, conferences, etc. and in many cases, congregational justice work ceased altogether. On the other hand, with everyone getting oriented to the likes of Zoom teleconferencing capabilities, more individual UUs are participating in webinars, national and international meetings, and taking the opportunity to delve deeper into the justice issue of their passion.
