SEJC Update from Mike Betz: Whatcom Faith Community Immigrant Support (WFCIS): We are people of faith seeking to support immigrants in Whatcom County. Though our traditions are diverse, we share the value of celebrating and defending our immigrant neighbors.
Thank You for Your Support and Dedication
As 2025 closes, please accept our deepest thanks to all who donated food, gift cards, and volunteer time to WFCIS this year. The food boxes that go out each Tuesday are a true community effort across diverse faith communities, individuals drawn to the work, community groups, and Whatcom County businesses. Together, we are making our neighbors feel supported.
Volunteer on Tuesdays
There are still lots of openings to help receive donations and pack boxes in January. We meet at the First Congregational Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. every Tuesday. Sign up at:

We particularly want to ask for diapers next week to build up our supply. If you can, we would appreciate diapers sizes newborn, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and Toddler pull-ups 3/4.
Please also continue to help supplement food boxes from the Bellingham Food Bank by donations of:
- Oranges, oranges, and oranges,
- Dairy: small containers of yogurt, mozzarella and queso cheese
- Vegetables: Roma tomatoes, cilantro, and peppers
Put the First 2026 WFCIS General Meeting on Your Calendar
The WFCIS monthly general meetings are open to everyone. In January, we will meet on Zoom on Thursday, January 22nd from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. We will focus on the needs of Whatcom County immigrant families, evaluating our present capacity to address those needs, and making decisions about next steps. We will also review funds available and make decisions on spending priorities for family support. Watch for a specific agenda closer to the meeting. We hope to have representatives from our partner organizations represented to help us evaluate needs and plan strategies. Your ideas, suggestions and questions are welcome!!!

We Close Each Tuesday in Prayer
Let us take a moment of silence to recognize the compassion and hope that unites us…
Source of all life,
We give thanks for the bounty of creation—more than enough to share.
We give thanks for the amazing diversity of people of every land, culture, and language.
We give thanks for the willing hands and hearts that worked together this morning.
May these boxes be a sign of blessing and solidarity to those who receive them.
May those who deliver them be granted safe passage.
May all people in our community be allowed to live in peace, free from fear or coercion.
Grant us all strength and wisdom in these days.
Amen.
