Humanitas (a humane act, benevolence) is a deeply spiritual ministry.
We are actively engaged in fulfilling the first line of BUF’s Covenant:
“Love is the spirit of this fellowship and service gives it life.”
Humanitas is a weekly alms program with the Community Resource Network, reaching out to local citizens who are struggling to rebuild lives turned upside down as a result of an unfortunate decision or circumstances beyond their control. The need is great and growing. BUF’s Humanitas Ministry Action Team provides support to local people in need by listening to their stories and offering limited, emergency, financial assistance in a safe, warm and non-judgmental atmosphere.
After an 18-month phone ministry, Humanitas has returned to its original in-person ministry as of Nov. 2021. Clients in need of assistance may apply in person at BUF on Wednesdays only, from 10 to 11 a.m., at 1207 Ellsworth St. Use the side door on “I” Street. Please arrive promptly at 10 and bring some form of identification. Masks are required and provided if necessary.
