SEJC Update: Whatcom Faith Community Immigrant Support

SEJC Update from Mike Betz: Whatcom Faith Community Immigrant Support (WFCIS): We are people of faith seeking to support immigrants in Whatcom County. Though our traditions are diverse, we share the value of celebrating and defending our immigrant neighbors.

Volunteer on Tuesdays. What fun to work together on Tuesdays to make the food box deliveries happen! There are still openings to help receive donations and pack boxes in January. Check out the sign up by clicking here. We also need folks to pick up food boxes at the food bank and drive them to First Congregational in January. That sign up is here.

Donations Needed. Drop off next Tuesday, December 30th between 11-12pm. Here’s what we need to supplement food boxes provided by the Bellingham Food Bank:
  • Dairy: small containers of yogurt, mozzarella and queso cheese
  • Vegetables: roma tomatoes, cilantro and peppers
  • Fruit: cuties, bananas and limes
  • Empty egg cartons and clean plastic grocery bags
We also need $500 a month to buy extra fresh food to supplement the food boxes. If you would like to donate, please make out a check to First Congregational Church of Bellingham with “WFCIS” in the memo line. Mail the check to WFCIS c/o First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall Ave., Bellingham, WA 98226. Special thanks to FCCB for being an awesome fiscal sponsor!

Monthly General Meeting. WFCIS will not hold a general meeting in December but stay tuned for the next meeting date in January. This is a chance for us to come together, review what we have been doing and plan for the future. All are welcome to participate.
